Cerumen Removal
Cerumen is the medical term for earwax. Earwax is a natural occurring substance that is secreted by the human body. It serves to coat, clean, and protect the ear canal. It naturally migrates out of the ear canal on its own. However, blockage of the canal can occur when earwax doesn’t fully make its way out and begins to buildup. This buildup can then harden and create more hearing health problems. Your audiologist and/or provider will take the necessary steps by using the proper tools to remove the earwax and clean your ear canals in the safest way possible. This can include the use of earwax softening agents, irrigation of the canal, and/or curettes.
Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations
Our team of doctors and providers will complete a thorough hearing evaluation to properly diagnose your hearing and speech understanding abilities. This includes assessing the outer, middle, and inner ears with use of sophisticated equipment and tests specific to each part of the ear. Your audiologist and/or provider will go over the test results with you and go over the treatment options that are best suited for you and your hearing health.
Hearing Aid Evaluations
This appointment may follow your diagnostic hearing evaluation or be a separate appointment altogether. If you’ve reached this step in your hearing healthcare journey, your audiologist and/or provider has already confirmed that you have, to some degree and type, a hearing loss and are a great candidate to be fit with hearing aids. Choosing your hearing aids is a very personal process that is specifically tailored to you. Your provider will guide you through hearing aids of various styles, models, and levels of technology that best suit you, your lifestyle, your budget, and most importantly, your specific degree and type of hearing loss. Once you decide to move forward with the use of hearing aids, your audiologist and/or provider will order the appropriate devices and notify you once they arrive.
Hearing Aid Fittings
Fitting your hearing aids is exactly what it sounds like. Your audiologist and/or provider will “fit” your hearing aids in/on your ears and fine tune them with the appropriate software and tools to adjust the volume and range of sounds you should be hearing. Your hearing healthcare provider will show you how to wear them and care for them properly. Your hearing aids must fit you comfortably, and help meet your hearing care needs on a daily basis. Several adjustments may be done according to your personal feedback and experiences with the devices. This step in your hearing healthcare journey also kickstarts the rehabilitation process, where your ears and brain can reconnect and reintroduce some of the sounds you have been missing.
Hearing Aid Repairs
Just as any electronic device, these microcomputers and processors are created with very sophisticated parts which work non-stop in order to better help you hear the world around you. Despite your best efforts, your hearing devices may still need a repair at some point after purchase. Hearing aid repairs can be as simple as a “drop-off and pick-up” where your hearing professional can troubleshoot in-office and call you when they’re ready, or we may need to send it off for more in-depth repairs at their corresponding manufacturer labs. Whether it’s simple wear and tear or even loss and/or damage of your devices, our team is always here to help.
Custom Ear Molds
Whether you need ear molds for your hearing aids, or new impressions of a different size, color, or material, our team can make it happen. Everything we need is in office to carefully create impressions of your ears. The impressions then
get sent off to the manufacturer to be made. Once they arrive, we will call you to come in to make sure they fit comfortably and appropriately.
Custom Hearing Protection
If you are exposed to loud sounds or
noise on a continuous basis, it is highly recommended to use
hearing protection. Just like regular ear molds, these molds are
custom made to the exact measurements of your ear canal and
surrounding anatomical structures. They will provide you with
essential protection against loud, unwanted, and dangerous
sound levels that can further deteriorate your hearing. Again, all
measurements are made in office and sent off to be made. Once
they arrive, we will call you to come in and try them on to make
sure they fit comfortably and appropriately.
Custom Swimming Molds
This is another custom fit and
personalized ear mold we make for you in office as well. These
molds create a tight but comfortable seal to block water from
entering the ear canal.
